If you're in line to check out at a store, are you somehow wondering if you're actually going to have to pay? Thinking that just maybe the checker will tell you you're lucky number 1,000,000 and they would like to pay you for your presence in their shop that day?
Seriously, it makes me crazy when people stand in line, watch their items get scanned one by one, and then look surprised when the checker announces a total. And only then, can they be inspired to begin digging in their bag for their wallet, find the checkbook, and begin to write. What have they been doing? It's no mystery, you're going to need to pay, so what's wrong with being prepared? This holiday season, we all need to work together. Do not needlessly aggravate the people behind you in line. Just be ready with the checkbook, or better yet, join the 21st century and get a frickin' debit card. Have it out, have your pin memorized, and make it your mission to scan it before the checker can finish scanning all the crap you're buying in the first place.
