For the blog, which admittedly I have neglected for a year or more, and for me. In about 4 months time I'll become "A Mom". It's something I've wanted at least forever, and I couldn't be more excited. I also wonder where I fit in the "mom" label. When do I start wearing mom jeans? Saying all the things my mother said? Am I really old enough (realizing, of course, that by many standards I am quite old for first-time mom. In fact, I am medically almost considered of "advanced maternal age".)?
So, as a result of being a first-time mom at this very advanced age, I have a number of questions for you out there who know more about babies than I do. I know only a couple of people read this, but I know that each of you know a baby or two or ten and therefore have more experience than I. Except perhaps for Erik. I know a little more than you do, but that's only because I've read more books on the subject so far. I knew a baby once, her name is Tasha, but she's almost 30 now. So that was a long time ago that she was a baby, and I wasn't all that old myself, so I don't really remember many details.
I do remember the cord stub thingy falling off one day. I think she was getting a bath in the sink. Which brings me to my first question for you experienced baby folk: do I need a special baby bathtub? I'm pretty sure my fuzzy memory recalls my little sister getting baths in a sink. We have 5 sinks in our house right now, so think one of them would work for a baby? Or do I really need one of those special bathtubs, which look delightful to find a place to store when not in use. Or maybe you just leave it out. How often does a baby need a bath anyway?
Next topic will be diapers, so start thinking of your advice now! :)
